I have six audience volunteers. Each of them is given an envelope with a chapter of the story we will be telling. I sit by each of them in turn, hold hands with them, and we read these chapters, attempting and failing to speak in perfect unison. We celebrate failures. Sometimes I sing instead of speak. The story is of the love between two trans women, one dying of sadness, of the love of their chosen mother, of hospitality and the incredible healing power of simply being allowed to exist around other people without expectations.
